Bringing the beach to Clemmons
When a resident mentioned wanting to go to the beach, Yamilet faced a problem: Clemmons is about three and a half hours from the coast. So she asked herself how she could bring the beach, or at least the water, closer to them. The answer was a summer pool party for residents.
What made it unforgettable was the feedback. Some residents had not seen a pool, or a group of people gathered together around one, in a long time. As Yamilet puts it, residents often say an activity was fun, but hearing that this one touched them in a different way is what made it so special.
